The bra a woman wears can affect her breasts and posture
in many ways. The truth is that 90 percent of women across the globe are
actually wearing the wrong size bra. Most women wear a cup size that
is too small and a band size that is too large. This can cause numerous
problems for the breasts, shoulders, and back.
The first course of action for you to take is to get
measured. The problem with this is that there is no standard bra size.
Companies tend to have their own sizing chart. Although it may be similar to
another company’s, their bras may fit totally different than somewhere else.
The good news is that most department or lingerie stores
have an employed fitter. These women are there to make sure that you leave with
your perfect fit. Although, it is best to avoid Victoria’s Secret. Many stories
have been told about their employees only wanting women to leave with a bra. It
does not matter if it is too small (their bras run small).
There is no reason to feel nervous when getting measured.
These women are usually hired for their kind and gentle demeanor. Not to
mention that they have probably seen every kind of breasts there are. After you
have been measured, you will probably be astonished at your true size. Most
women think that they are a few cups smaller than what they are. Most women
claim that they are a 34 B when in reality they are probably a 34 DD. This has
to do with the fact that most stores do not carry large sizes so women will put
on these smaller bras not even realizing how uncomfortable they make them.
Your bra does not fit correctly if it rides up in the
back. This is a clear sign that the band size you are wearing is too big.
Another sign that your bra is too big is if the straps constantly slide off
your shoulders. Constantly adjusting your bra is not a good sign that it is the
right fit.
A good fitting bra will be snug. It should actually be
clasped at the loosest hooks. This is because as the bra gets older, you should
be able to tighten it to keep it snug. A snug bra is the only one that will hold
up your breasts. If you cannot breathe you have probably gone overboard, but
other than that you are good.
The support of a bra does not come from the straps. If
you have to tighten your straps all the way down to the band, it is not the
right bra. The support of a bra always comes from the band. Also, tightening
straps can make them dig into your shoulders, which can actually cause nerve
damage and headaches.
Also, to know that you are wearing the right cup size,
check the band in the front of the bra. If the band in the middle is not
touching your chest, you are wearing a size too small. If there is a gap or air
pocket on the inside of the bra, the cup size is too large.
To keep a bra fitting properly, you should wash it
correctly. Never put a bra in the washing machine if it is possible. Always
hand wash. You should let your bras soak in water, and use a mild soap. Let
them soak for at least 30 minutes, and occasionally move them about the water.
When you take them out to dry do not wring the water out
of them. Instead place them between a towel and press. After you have finished
doing this, make sure the bras are in their original shape, and then let them
air dry.
When you put your bras up, do not fold them or place the
cups together. Instead lay them flat and place other bras on top in the same
position. As you wear them place the one on the top on the bottom. This will
keep you alternating through your bras as it is not good for the same one to be
worn two days in a row. Keep them in rotation to make them last longer.
Remember that wearing the correct bra size can add to
your bust area, thus it is like increasing breast size simply by being informed
and taking action.
